BOURBON — Culver figured out a way to slow down Clay Yeo, and in the process, also slowed Triton in a 46-42 upset in boys hoops at Triton Friday night.

Collin Stevens and Kyle Vlach each hit huge three-pointers to begin the fourth quarter as Culver never trailed in the final period as the Trojans began to press for shot attempts. Stevens finished with 15 points and was joined by Trent Elliott with 17 points, who played most of the fourth quarter with four fouls.

Triton had possession trailing by just a bucket late, but turned the ball over which the Cavaliers (8-3) turned into free throws on the other end. The Cavaliers end a 16-game losing streak to the Trojans (7-4), which dated back to December of 2004.

Triton were led by the 23 points from Clay Yeo, but six points from Tanner Shepherd was the next highest offering for the home side. Triton led 25-22 at the half on a three-ball from the corner by Darren Harrell, which was the largest lead Triton would see in the second half.

Triton and Culver will now both head into pool play for the Bi-County Tournament, with both teams hosting games on Jan. 15 against Argos and Bremen, respectively.
