SOUTH WHITLEY – The Whitko girls basketball team dropped a 56-34 final Thursday night to Norwell in non-conference play.

Norwell, ranked No. 2 in Class 3-A, broke the game open by outscoring the hosts 16-1 in the second quarter to take control.  Norwell improves to 13-2 on the season with its fifth straight victory.

Cagney Craig led Whitko with 10 points. Melanie Kelsey had nine for the Wildcats, who have lost three in a row.

Carlee Harnish netted 13 points and Paige Frisch had 12 to pace Norwell.

Whitko, which drops to 5-10, plays at league foe Southwood Saturday. Norwell plays at Bellmont, also Saturday night.
