On Wednesday, a Warsaw man was sentenced to 180 days in jail for pleading guilty to domestic battery. Carl Lee Grisby, 43, will again go to court on Jan. 24 for additional charges that were filed on Dec. 30.

Grisby, of 1827 Rosemont Ave., Warsaw, was sentenced Jan. 9, for domestic battery as a class A misdemeanor. Charges were first filed on March 18, 2012, for both class D felony and class A misdemeanor counts.

In a plea agreement, Grisby was sentenced only for the A misdemeanor charge and ordered to serve 180 days in jail and pay court fines of $216. His right to possess firearms was also terminated.

But before that case was finalized, on Dec. 30, 2012, Grisby was again arrested for domestic battery. Warsaw Police were called at 5:24 a.m. that day when, according to the police report, Grisby and his girlfriend had returned home from a Syracuse bar and an argument ensued. The woman reportedly asked Grisby to leave the residence and leave his keys when he allegedly began disconnecting phone cables.

According to the female, she attempted to leave the residence when Grisby pulled her by her hair, pushed her down and choked her. He also allegedly grabbed a pocket knife and threatened to kill her. Officers did see red marks to the woman’s neck, scratches to her upper chest and redness to her arms.

From the Dec. 30 case, Grisby is set to appear in Kosciusko County Superior Court III at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24. He is currently charged with C felony intimidation; criminal confinement and strangulation, both class D felonies; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
