images-7FORT WAYNE – Jared Bloom turned in some kind of encore performance Saturday night.

The Warsaw standout poured in a game-high 20 points, including hitting the game winning shot for the second straight night, as the Tigers notched a 52-50 non-conference win at Fort Wayne Snider.

Bloom, a senior guard, dropped in 25 points and hit the game winning shot with 3.7 seconds to play Friday night as Warsaw edged Northridge 43-41 in a Northern Lakes Conference contest at home.

Bloom hit the game winner Saturday night right at the final horn to lift the Tigers to another thrilling win. The shot came after Warsaw’s Rashaan Jackson hit the second of two free throw attempts with 2.7 seconds to play to tie the game at 50-50. Snider then threw away the inbounds pass on their ensuing possession, giving the ball back to the Tigers under the Snider basket. Bloom then stepped up and provided the heroics for the second straight game to give Warsaw the road win.

Bloom, Warsaw’s top scorer, was most of the offense again Saturday night. He hit 8-of-14 shots from the field, including a key 4-of-8 on 3-pointers.

Warsaw has now won four in a row and six of its last seven games to improve to 7-4 on the season.

The Tigers led 18-10 after the opening period Saturday night and had their largest lead at 27-12 in the second quarter before going into intermission up 29-19. Snider, which drops to 4-4, rallied to lead 37-36 after three quarters.

The 3-point line was huge for Warsaw in the win. The Tigers drained 8-of-15 tries from distance in the victory, while shooting a strong 21-of-43 overall from the field.

Snider posted a 27-19 rebounding edge and hit 19-of-40 from the field. The hosts were just 9-of-15 from the line.

The Tigers, for the second straight night, barely got to the charity stripe. Warsaw, which shot just three free throws at home Friday night, was 2-of-3 from the line in the win Saturday night.

Rashaan Jackson netted nine points and John Swanson and Taylor Cone each chipped in with five for Warsaw.

Devlyn Williams led Snider with 15 points and eight rebounds. Trey’von Covington added 12 points for the Panthers, who have lost three in a row.

Warsaw also took home a two-point win in the junior varsity contest. The Tigers prevailed by a 44-42 final as Nick Sands tossed in 20 points and Jonny Hollar had 12 for the winners.

Warsaw (7-4) plays Elkhart Central Tuesday night at North Side Gym. Snider (4-4) hosts Fort Wayne South Friday night.
