Andrew J. Chupp
Andrew J. Chupp, 93, of Nappanee, Ind., died at 6:50 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at his residence unexpectedly of natural causes.
He was born Feb. 27, 1919, in Kansas to Joseph C.S. and Amanda (Detweiler) Chupp. He lived most of his life in Indiana and moved to Nappanee in 1944. He married Clara Slabaugh on Dec. 30, 1947, in Nappanee. She preceded in death May 12, 1994.
Mr. Chupp was a retired factory worker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Surviving are sons: Eldon Chupp and Alvin Chupp, both of Milford, Ind.; Joseph (Sue) Chupp, Elkhart, Ind.; daughters, Carol (Charles) Westerman, North Webster, Ind.; Fannie Mae (Mervin) Miller, Katherine (Steven) Miller, both of Goshen, Ind.; Ina (Vernon) Bontrager, Nakomis, Fla.; Wilma (Lynn) Hively, Treva Chupp, both of Nappanee; Erma (Bob) Stevens, Sarasota, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; brothers: John (Esther) Chupp, Nappanee and Harvey (Nancy) Chupp, Eden Prairie, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a grandson; brothers: Ray, Joe, Rudy, Sam and Bill Chupp and sisters; Mary Gingerich, Elizabeth Schrock, Anna Miller and Lydia Garber.
Family and friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday at the Darryl Hochstetler residence, 13991 N. 700 W., Nappanee, where funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 4, 2013. Bishop Howard Schwartz and the Home Ministry of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate. Burial will be in Weldy Cemetery.
