Snow Forecast For New Year’s Eve

The National Weather Service office in Syracuse has offered a special weather statement for today, Dec. 31.

The NWS is forecasting periods of moderate snow to develop this afternoon ahead of a cold front. The snow is expected to intensify through the afternoon with visibilities down to one-half mile possible in some areas.

Total snow accumulations of 1 inch to 2 inches are possible by later this evening. Motorists are urged to use caution as untreated roads may become slick.
