Winamac Handles Vikings
WINAMAC – A strong Winamac team used a strong start to turn back Tippecanoe Valley 63-47 in girls basketball action Thursday night.
The host Warriors, who improved to 8-1, led 18-8 after the opening quarter en route to the non-conference win. Winamac led 34-24 at halftime.
Cara Hoffman scored 12 points to lead the Vikings, who fall to 3-6 on the season. Caylie Teel had 11 points for Valley, while Courtney Newsome had nine and Kelsey Ball five.
The Vikings were just 7-of-19 from the free throw line in the loss.
Stephanie Shorter canned 23 points to pace Winamac, whose lone loss this season was a 47-41 decision to John Glenn. Jessica Schramm had 14 points for the winning hosts.
Valley plays at Whitko in a Three Rivers Conference game Saturday night. Winamac travels to North White Saturday afternoon.
