The Milford teen who used a skid loader to damage two police cars Saturday night has been remanded to Pierceton Woods Juvenile Detention Center until his next hearing, set for Dec. 27.
Kosciusko County Prosecutor Dan Hampton says the 15-year-old boy appeared for an initial hearing Monday afternoon and was ordered to detention until at least Thursday, Dec. 27, when he is scheduled to again appear in court at 9:30 a.m. The teen, already facing a misdemeanor charge from an unrelated school incident, is now expected to face five charges resulting from Saturday night’s event. Those charges would be felonies if they were filed against an adult.
According to Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, deputies and Indiana State Police were called to the area of CRs 900 North and 250 West, southwest of Milford, at around 8:40 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8.
The initial call was for an out of control 15-year-old boy who first locked his mother out of the house, then was said to have grabbed a baseball bat and a machete and fled the family’s property on a skid loader.
Prior to the teen being taken into custody, he used the skid loader to damage two police patrol vehicles and an ATV that was being operated by a police officer.
Hampton says he is charging the teen in juvenile court with three counts of aggravated battery, which would be class C felonies if committed by an adult and two counts of criminal recklessness, which would be class D felonies if committed by an adult. The charges will be dealt with in juvenile court.
