The Local Emergency Food and Shelter Programs Board for Kosciusko County has received notice that Kosciusko County is being awarded $11,786 through the Emergency Food and Shelter Program. Federal funds are awarded through the Department of Homeland Security.

A national board was established to distribute funds appropriated by Congress to help expand the capacity of food and shelter programs in high-need areas around the country.

The local board is made up of representatives from local government and non- profit agencies in Kosciusko County. They met on Sept. 25 to review funding requests from qualifying agencies. The local board is responsible for determining how these funds, and any additional funds made available, are to be distributed among the applicants.

Emergency Food and Shelter funds will be allocated to North Webster Area Community Services, Combined Community Services, Fellowship Missions and the Kosciusko County Shelter for Abuse.
