The Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety has approved a street closure for the annual Toys for Tots donation drive.

Center Street, between Buffalo and Lake streets, will be closed on Saturday, Dec. 1, for the annual toy collection event. Sgt. Dave Morales, Kosciusko County Toys for Tots coordinator, requested the closure to support the donation drive and plans to use Center Street as a drive-through donation drop-off.

The donation drive will take place from 7 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Morales plans to make use of the new Warsaw City Hall parking lot if construction is completed by Dec. 1.

The B.O.W. approved choosing Comcast to provide phone and internet services for the new city hall. The plan covers phone service for 17 phone lines including service to the elevator and security systems.

The board also approved a payment of $185,256.59 to Harold McComb and Son Inc. for continued work on the city hall.

For the Waste Water Utility department, after looking at the Center Street Pump Station project, it was discovered additional work was required. The board approved a $11,117 change order to Grand River Construction, bringing the total to $2,465,117 for the pump station contract.

A 2-year contract between the Warsaw Parks Department and Wildman Business Group was approved. Wildman will provide uniforms, rug service and supplies.

Emans Engineering’s contract with the city was renewed. The board approved an agreement of $51,996 for engineering services provided to the Building and Planning, Wastewater and Redevelopment Commission.

Fred Helfrich of the KCV Cycling Club was present and donated stencils to the city to prevent costs while painting bike lanes and symbols for future pedestrian and bike trail projects.
