Mobile Food Pantry Visits Warsaw
The Food Bank of Northern Indiana made a stop in Warsaw this morning with its mobile food pantry. The stop at God’s Highway to Heaven Church provided food for over 150 local residents. With the condition of the economy and medical costs, the pantry benefited many people.

“We do this to help those in need,” said Tanya Brown, the pastor’s wife at God’s Highway. “We provide 15 volunteers to help with those that have lost their jobs, the elderly, and we also do it as an act of ministry.”
The mobile food pantry, which started in March, delivered nearly 8,000 pounds of food that will feed up to three-hundred people in the area. Monthly stops are scheduled throughout northern Indiana.
“We plan a stop once every month in each of our six counties,” said Amanda Peterson, Resource Opportunity developer with the Food Bank of Northern Indiana. “With the colder weather, we now have to find indoor locations to distribute food. We’re starting to see more unfamiliar faces, so the need is definitely rising.”

Residents are welcome to take what they need, but due to availability of certain foods, mostly produce and meats, some food items have a limit. Food is donated to the Food Bank by various stores and local individuals throughout the region.
