About 20 Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association Indiana and Warsaw-Region members represented Indiana Nov. 5-9 at the annual HBA Leadership Institute and HBA Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla.

Companies represented by this group included Biomet, Bloomington Meadows Hospital, DePuy Orthopaedics Inc., Genentech, Eli Lilly and Company, Roche Diagnostics, Northlich, OrthoWorx Inc. and YourEncore Inc.

“The Indiana Chapter, now the fourth largest chapter in the HBA, was well represented at the conference and recognized for increasing membership this past year by 265 percent, boasting 60 percent member retention and re-launching a successful mentoring program,” stated Dawn Lang, president of HBA Indiana Chapter and vice president Engagement Director for Northlich.

HBA Indiana-Warsaw Region was launched in September 2012 to serve the needs of professionals in Northeast Indiana. “Our board of directors is looking forward to 2013 providing innovative and engaging programs and member-only events focused on leadership and diversity in healthcare, the changing healthcare landscape, and an unparalleled mentoring program,” added Lang.

The Leadership Institute is a full day of knowledge sharing and training designed to address the essentials needed for effective board leadership and enhanced professional and personal leadership acumen. The LI is an exclusive benefit for HBA chapter and corporate board members and leads into the annual HBA Leadership Conference.

The 2012 HBA Leadership Conference, Where Leadership Paths Converge, Enlighten, Empower, Evolve, offers a stellar leadership workshop series to enlighten, empower and evolve professionally. The robust content of the conference allows attendees to hone their leadership skills, build their functional skill sets and network with healthcare thought leaders, all while investing in their careers.

“The caliber of these events visibly correlates to the dedication of the HBA to its members and chapter leaders. As a new board member and in my new role with HBA Warsaw Region, this is my first time participating in these programs. In my experience with other organizations, other programs pale in comparison,” stated Tammy Allen, director-at-large, HBA Indiana-Warsaw Region, HBA Indiana board member and director of marketing, OrthoWorx. “I encourage professionals seeking to grow their careers, invest in themselves and expand their networks to plan to attend next year’s events.

Also, local professionals are invited to join in at local and regional events to expand networks and get to know more about HBA.”

HBA is open to professionals—female and male—in the healthcare industry. This includes those that work with and/or support those individuals as well (e.g., educational institutions, banking enterprises, marketing and professional services organizations, etc.). All have the potential to advance women in healthcare to its fullest potential.
