Two Elkhart County employers are requesting tax abatements that could lead to the addition of nearly 300 jobs in the area.

Recreational vehicle frame manufacturer Fortress Technologies is planning to establish an operation in Middlebury. The company plans to create 266 jobs.

Another RV supplier, Vista Manufacturing wants to create more jobs in Elkhart. It would add 15 positions if the tax abatement is approved.

Both companies have committed to staying in Elkhart County for the next 11 years.

The Elkhart County Council has given the requests preliminary approval. The final approval could be granted next month.
