ST. CATHARINE, KENTUCKY – The Grace College men’s basketball team went cold in overtime Saturday to drop an 81-73 final at St. Catharine.

The eighth-ranked Lancers went 0-of-9 from the field in the extra session, including missing all six of their 3-point shots in overtime. The hots hit 3-of-5 shots in overtime to outscore Grace 8-0.

St. Catharine bolted to a 13-1 lead to open the contest. Grace rallied to tie the game at 25-25 before the hosts went on another run to lead 42-29 at halftime.

Grace, which saw its record drop to 1-1, rallied in the second half. The Lancers tied the game on a basket by Elliot Smith with 1:11 left to force overtime.

Smith led the Lancers with 20 points and hit five treys in the loss. Greg Miller had 13 points and 12 rebounds and Bruce Grimm Jr. scored 17 points for coach Jim Kessler’s squad.

Grace hosts the KCCCF Optimist Classic Friday and Saturday at the Orthopaedic Capital Center in Winona Lake. The Lancers play Missouri Baptist Friday at 8 p.m. and then face NAIA Division I No. 4 Robert Morris Saturday at 4 p.m.
