Crews from the Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department have begun stringing lights in the park in preparation of the annual Christmas display.

Crews are setting up electrical outlets, testing lights and hanging them on trees today in Central Park.

The display features more than 200,000 lights, 28 lighted figurines and 6 lit displays.

“New this year will be the wreaths on the Center Lake Office and Pavilion as well as a penguin snowball throwing scene,” said Larry Plummer, superintendent of parks. “These items were purchased from last year’s concession proceeds and donations from I.U. Goshen Health and Grossnickle Eye Center.”

The entire process takes 3 weeks to 4 weeks to prepare. Once completed, the lights will be on display as part of Light Up the Night held at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7.

The lights will be on display every night from then until Dec. 31. Concessions will be sold from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. every night the display is lit, except on Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve. All proceeds go toward future light displays.
