ELKHART – Jimtown proved every bit worthy of its No. 1 ranking Friday night versus Whitko.
The host Jimmies rolled to a 55-7 victory in a Class 3-A Sectional 18 sectional semifinal contest.
Jimtown, now 11-0, advances to play at No. 9 Heritage (9-2) next Friday night for the sectional championship.
The Jimmies rolled to a 41-0 halftime lead Friday night. The hosts rushed for 365 yards in the win and out gained the Wildcats 433-111 in total yards.
Devan Emerson and Tanner Adams each scored a pair of touchdowns to lead Jimtown. Emerson scored on runs of 32 and seven yards and Adams on rushes of two and one yard. Shawn Garriott also rushed for two scores for the Jimmies.
Emerson led the ground game with 10 carries for 103 yards, while Adams added 82 yards on nine carriers.
Whitko, which finishes 4-7, scored in the third quarter on a 51-yard pass play from Alex Stoddard to Trace Killian.
Stoddard was 3-6 passing for 59 yards. Whitko sophomores Tanner Hughes (32 yards) and Devin Gerding (17) were held in check in the loss.
The game was called with 6:40 to play in the final quarter after all the lights in and around Knepp Field went out. It was believed that a blown transformer in the area was to blame for the situation that forced the game to be stopped.
