A member of Warsaw Community School’s support staff was jailed today on sexual charges after Warsaw Police detectives investigated a complaint of inappropriate recording of underage girls at Warsaw Community High School.

Last week, two 16-year-old girls and one 17-year-old girl complained to school staff that they were being photographed or videotaped from a cell phone camera under a desk during classes.

As a result of a WCHS and Warsaw Police investigation, Daniel Andres Zambrano, 35, of Warsaw, was charged with three counts of voyeurism, all Class A misdemeanor offenses.

During an interview with Zambrano on Thursday, Oct. 18, he confessed to the inappropriate and criminal behavior as alleged. The investigation determined that on numerous occasions between May of the last school year, and in the first three months of this school year, he was engaged in recording under the desks, and up the skirts or dresses of minor females at school.

There was indication that other similar behavior may have been conducted by Zambrano with adult women at other locations, but not at WCHS. At this time there is no evidence to support that any personal relationship(s) or sexual touching occurred with any students or anyone else.

Investigators recovered an iPhone owned by Zambrano and, although the phone is still being examined, preliminary data indicates still pictures and videos are contained in the phone’s memory.

Zambrano is support staff in the English as a Second Language program at WCHS. School officials indicate that Zambrano is a part-time employee of the school system.

The Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s office, WCHS administrators and Warsaw Police School Resource Officers assisted in the investigation. This investigation will continue to determine any other possible victims and/or locations.
