Emergency personnel and Samaritan air ambulance responded to an accident on U.S. 30 and CR 900 East near Pierceton at approximately 3:52 p.m. today.

Ronda K. Harris, 37, Pierceton, was extracted by the Pierceton Fire Department from her vehicle and airlifted to Parkview Regional Hospital, Fort Wayne, in serious condition with head injuries. Witnesses say she lost consciousness in the crash.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies say Garrett C. Craig, 16, Pierceton, was northbound on County Road 900 East in a red Dodge pickup truck and had entered into the median cross-over. Craig said he did not see the westbound Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Harris, and pulled into westbound lanes of U.S. 30, striking her vehicle in the driver’s side door. Craig was reportedly uninjured.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating at this time. Traffic along U.S. 30 was backed-up or delay for almost an hour due to the crash scene.
