A crash involving a semi and a box truck claimed the life of a Bay City, Mich., man Wednesday morning in Columbia City.

According to the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department, the crash happened at 9:03 a.m. when one semi was stopped on U.S. 30 at CR 300 East near Columbia City and was rear-ended by a box truck. The driver of the box truck, 37-year-old James Dean Priest, died at the scene.

The driver of the second semi was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital with chest and head pain but has still not been identified.

WCSD is investigating the crash.
