James Doran Taylor, 75, of Ligonier, Ind., passed away Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, in Ligonier.

He was born April 18, 1937 in Noble County, Ind., to Lee and Cleo (Fausnaugh) Taylor. On Aug. 1, 1960, he married Maureen Shannon. She preceded him in death in March of 1981.

He served his country honorably in the United States Army and later retired from Kreager Brothers Excavating following many years of service. He was a member of the VFW in Wolf Lake, Ind., and an avid fan of Kimmell little League and loved to watch his grandchildren play sports. He also enjoyed going to produce auctions and buying produce and flowers so he could give them to all his friends and family.

He is survived by four children: Becky Taylor, Ligonier, Ind.; Tina Hoover, Cromwell, Ind.; Rocky (Shari) Taylor, Kimmell, Ind.; and Jim (Lisa) Taylor, Ligonier, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; seven siblings: Beverly (Bud) Todd, Albion, Ind.; Bob Taylor, Wolf Lake, Ind.; Sharon Young, Kimmell, Ind.; Joe (Vicki) Taylor, Ligonier, Ind.; Larry Taylor, Ligonier, Ind.; Harry (Linda) Taylor, Albion, Ind.; and Rick (Yvonne) Taylor, Kimmell, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and two brothers: Ron and Jerry Taylor.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway S., Ligonier. A funeral service in James honor will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, in the funeral home with Pastor Joey Nelson and Larry Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Cosperville Cemetery in Cosperville, Ind.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Kimmell Little League.
