What was initiated as a call regarding a possible prowler today has officers of the
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigating a stabbing.

Deputies were called to 6019 S. 600 W., Claypool, at 12:57 a.m. Sunday. When they arrived they found 25-year-old Coty Allan Prater, of Claypool, laying on the porch of the residence with multiple stab wounds. Officers also observed the homeowner exiting the front door of the residence.

Prater suffered multiple stab wounds to his upper right leg and left ear, and also had cuts and bruises to his face. KCSD officials say the original caller was unaware that the subject was the victim of a stabbing.

Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene, but the victim would not cooperate with the investigation, refusing to say who stabbed him or where the stabbing happened.

KCSD officers and detectives went to Kosciusko Community Hospital and met with Prater in an additional attempt to obtain more information into the stabbing, but police have no further details.

Prater was originally transported to KCH in serious condition, but was treated and later released.
