Grace College’s Dr. Jared Burkholder, associate professor of American and world history, has been invited to serve as the program chair for the 2012 student meeting of the Conference on Faith and History, which will meet at Gordon College in Wenham, Mass., early next month.
CFH is a national organization that includes historians from many of the nation’s colleges and universities. Burkholder is responsible for organizing the program for the student conference, where undergraduates from across the country will present research papers. Four Grace students will give papers at the conference, and both Burkholder and Grace’s Dr. Mark Norris will attend the event as well as participate in the professional segment of the meeting.
Burkholder is excited for the opportunities the conference and his role in it can provide for Grace students. “Serving in this way allows Dr. Norris and I to take an active role in mentoring our students, which includes introducing them to the professional world of their disciplines,” he said.
During his doctoral work, Burkholder served on the CFH executive board as the Graduate Student Representative from 2005-2007.
