A North Webster Police officer attempted to stop a motorcyclist on SR 13 south of North Webster at about 9:10 p.m. Wednesday night when a high speed pursuit ensued.

The motorcyclist, now identified as Gary John Alto, 53, of  2186 N. 850 E., Pierceton, fled the officer southbound on SR 13 from CR 500 North. The pursuit, reaching speeds over 100 mph, then went east into Whitley County and north into Noble County where the suspect crashed his motorcycle on CR 350 South near CR 650 West.

Alto was taken into custody and refused medical assistance. Scanner traffic indicated the suspect is HTV for life, meaning he is a habitual traffic violator.

Alto has been charged with HTV, resisting law enforcement with force or a deadly weapon/vehicle, invasion of privacy, and two counts of battery resulting in bodily injuries. His bond has been set at $21,750.
