The Ball State University men’s golf program has landed another outstanding area golfer.

Triton High School senior Quentyn Carpenter has made a verbal commitment to join the Cardinals in 2013.

Carpenter joins former WCHS standout and state champion Tyler Ostrom, who is a freshman at BSU this fall.

Carpenter holds every school record in the Trojan program, including best 9-hole average at 37.9 and also the 18-hole standard with a 65. Carpenter shot his record-setting round this past spring at the Tippecanoe Lake Country Club in Leesburg.

Carpenter has earned All-NSC honors three times and was medalist in the NSC Tournament his junior season. He was a State Finalist in both 2010 and 2011 as a freshman and a sophomore. Carpenter shot a 77 in the sectional this past season as the Trojans placed second and then fired a 78 in the regional as Triton placed ninth.

TJ Carpenter, Quentyn’s cousin, recently completed his senior season as a member of the BSU team. Carpenter is now a graduate assistant coach for the Cardinals.

Carpenter will receive a partial scholarship to play for the Cardinals.

Ball State, coached by Mike Fleck, finished in fourth place in the rain-shortened Mid-American Conference Championship this past season.
