August is typically known as one of the warmest months of summer, but this week a cold front moving through will keep temperatures below average.

According to the National Weather Service, we could see a stormy start to the week and, later in the week, a second and stronger cold front more typical of autumn weather will cause below-average temperatures across the Midwest.

On Monday, we’ll see a high of only 73 degrees and a 50 percent chance of rain. August’s average temperature for northern Indiana is 80 degrees.

Thursday will be the warmest day this week with temperatures reaching about 85 degrees, but Friday will require a jacket for most of us when the mercury tops out at just 67 degrees. Friday night’s low is forecast at 49 degrees.

Saturday is expected to also be cool with a high of 69.
