UPDATE: Man Killed in Boating Accident

Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a deadly boat accident that happened Sunday afternoon on Lake Latonka at approximately 4:15 p.m.

Conservation Officers investigating were told that the family of the victim, 61-year-old Roger Martin,  was pulling tubers on the lake when the incident occurred. The boat was turning around to pick up their tubers when Martin, who was sitting on the top edge of the boat, known as the “gunwale,” fell overboard and was struck by the propeller.

Martin, of Huntley, Ill., succumbed to the injuries sustained from the propeller and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lake Latonka is located off of SR 17 south of Plymouth.

Units on scene assisting Conservation Officers included Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Marshall County Coroner’s Office, Plymouth Medics, Plymouth Fire and Samaritan Air.
