Accidents
Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accidents:
- Monday, July 30, 5:39 p.m. US 30E and Anchorage Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Richard Helm, 67, 1709 N. Sunfish, Warsaw, and Jessica Auer, 27, 7055 W. Division Rd., Larwill. Auer slowed for a yellow signal and was struck from behind by Helm. Damages: up to $5,000
- Monday, July 30, 3:12 p.m. CR 400E, 2,000 feet west of CR 700W, Etna Green. Driver: Troy Craig, 45, 12373 Creek Bend, Milford. Craig left the roadway and collided with a utility pole. A blood draw was taken on both the driver and passenger, revealing both were intoxicated. Both were taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for medical care. Damages: up to $25,000
- Monday, July 30, 12:29 p.m. CR 600S and CR 500E, Pierceton. Drivers: Kenneth Fisher, 50, 7691 S 700E, Pierceton, and Daren Ransbottom, 23, 429 Westcreek Drive, Warsaw. Fisher turned into the path of Ransbottom while attempting a left turn. Damages: up to $25,000
- Sunday, July 29, 12:27 a.m. CR 400E, 1,000 feet north of Wilcox Road, Warsaw. Driver: William Jenkins, Jr., 23, 104 S. Franklin St., Sidney. Jenkins struck a deer. Damages: up to $5,000
- Saturday, July 28, 7:14 p.m. SR 19S, Etna Green. Driver: Brenda Slone, 52, 203 N. Etna St., Etna Green. Slone struck a deer. Damages: up to $2,500
- Saturday, July 28, 3 a.m. McKenna Road, 1,500 feet west of CR 600E, Warsaw. Driver: Benjamin Greer, 29, 7755 E 150N, Churubusco. Greer approached a curve too fast, left the roadway and struck a tree. Damages: up to $5,000
- Saturday, July 28, 1:09 a.m. CR 200W and CR 1000S, Silver Lake. Driver: Isaac Sellers, 19, 1100 Park Rd., Lot 3, Rochester. Sellers passed out from a bloody nose, running his car into a ditch. Damages: up to $2,500
- Friday, July 27, 11:35 p.m. CR 675W and Yant Street, Burket. Driver: Kevin Walsh, 42, 9037 S. Dale Lane, Claypool. Walsh approached the top of a hill crest and struck a large downed tree in the road. Damages: up to $10,000
- Friday, July 27, 4:40 p.m. SR 13S and US 30E, Pierceton. Drivers: Angela Adams, 35, 407 W. Market St., Pierceton, and Linden Boggs, 70, 7713 E. Old Rd. 30, Pierceton. Adams saw the light at an intersection turn green and continued driving, striking Boggs from behind. Adams was cited for driving while suspended. Damages: up to $10,000
- Tuesday, July 24, 6:14 p.m. CR 200S and SR 15, Warsaw. Driver: Hope Brooke, 24, 6428 W 500S, Mentone. Brooke was struck from behind while waiting at an intersection. The driver at fault left the scene. Brooke checked in at Kosciusko Community Hospital with neck and head pain. Damage: up to $2,500
- Thursday, July 19, 9:22 p.m. Catholic Street and Washington Street, Pierceton. Driver: Kerry Hughes, 47, 209 E. Catholic St., Pierceton. Hughes backed out of his driveway into a parked vehicle. Damages: up to $2,500
- Friday, June 29, 4:30 a.m. SR 25S and CR 600W, Burket. Driver: Rita Cox, 33, 3650 Elm Rd., Bremen. Cox reported falling asleep at the wheel, leaving the roadway and ending up in a swampy area. She reported no injuries. Damages: up to $5,000

- Monday, July 30, 7:30 p.m. A Leesburg resident reported a battery to a juvenile.
- Monday, July 30, 4 p.m. A female juvenile runaway was located in Warsaw.
- Sunday, July 29, 8:59 p.m. William Thompson requested the aid of the Sheriff’s Department in reference to an animal bite.
- Sunday, July 29, 6:19 p.m. James Ross of Shell Food Mart in Pierceton reported a female suspect in a white Lexus drove off with $51.83 of fuel without paying.
- Sunday, July 29, 6:18 p.m. Travis Johnson, 34, 312 N. Sherman St., Warsaw, was arrested for driving while suspended and intent to deal marijuana.
- Sunday, July 29, 1:22 p.m. Gary Austin, Warsaw, reported the top of his mailbox was knocked off the post.
- Sunday, July 29, 1:15 p.m. Larry Babcock, manager of Pak-A-Sak, reported a man in a green four-door car drove off with $53.80 of fuel without paying.
- Sunday, July 29, 10:05 a.m. John Webb of Syracuse reported the top of his mailbox was broken off and the post was bent.
- Saturday, July 28, 7:15 p.m. China Vanhook reported receiving threatening phone calls from a family member.
- Saturday, July 28, 3 p.m. Enrique Marquez, 43, 1914 Rosemont Ave., Warsaw, was arrested for operating while intoxicated, felony, with a juvenile in the car.
- Saturday, July 28, 2:12 p.m. Thomas D. Rensberger, 35, 308 S. Smith St., Leesburg, was arrested for dealing methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia after suspicious activity was reported in the parking lot of 300 E. School St.
- Saturday, July 28, 12:49 p.m. Tori M. Cleveland, 19, 312 W. Old Rd. 30, Atwood, and Austin J. Landis, 18, 4034 N. Old Port Rd., Warsaw, were arrested for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.
- Saturday, July 28, 10:50 a.m. Valerie Croy, Warsaw, reported the suspect destroyed and burnt several items of her personal property. Their relationship had just ended and she was in the process of moving out.
- Saturday, July 28, 8:12 a.m. Drake Gordon, Warsaw, reported the theft of a laptop and accessories from his residence on N 500W.
- Saturday, July 28, 12:39 a.m. Buzz Levinson, Syracuse, reported his mailbox was knocked over and mail was on the ground. Other mailboxes in the area had doors open and appeared to be tampered with.
- Friday, July 27, 8:07 p.m. Officers responded to a report of domestic violence between a male and female in Warsaw.
- Friday, July 27, 1:26 p.m. Victor Dan reported something struck the side of his vehicle while at the intersection of US 30 and Parker Street. A small dent and paint chip was found.
- Tuesday, July 24, 4:24 p.m. Robin Danner reported a plasma and LCD television and a computer stolen from her home in Cromwell. The suspect’s drivers license was found at the scene.
- Monday, July 23, 6:36 p.m. Casey Kline, MIlford, reported damage to her mailbox.
