WPD says at 3:40 p.m. Saturday, Warsaw detectives received information that a subject wanted on a warrant was at a home at 415 S. Detroit St. Upon arrival, officers discovered four people in the home, all of whom were involved in the manufacturing of methamphetamine.
When Police announced their presence, one subject, Charles R. Dove, 28, of Warsaw, fled out of a window but was captured. A second subject, Jason L. Shepherd, 33, ran into another room of the home and was placed under arrest. Inside that room, a package of finished meth was found. Items associated with the production of the drug were found throughout the home. Those items included lye, Coleman fuel, Lithium batteries, scales, and other items.
Additionally, stolen items were recovered in the home and police say those items were associated with a theft and a burglary that occurred in Warsaw earlier in the week.
Dove and Shepherd were charged with manufacturing, dealing and possession of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a school or park, both class A felonies; as well as possession of meth precursors within 1,000 feet of a school or park, class C felonies.
Additionally, Dove had an outstanding warrant for theft. Both subjects were booked into the Kosciusko County Jail and held without bond.
Warsaw Police also detained two other subjects in the Detroit Street home and charges will be forwarded to the Kosciusko County prosecutor’s office upon further investigation. Warsaw detectives continue to investigate this matter and expect additional charges for both Dove and Shepherd associated with the recovered stolen property.
The Indiana State Police meth clean up team was dispatched to clean the home of the hazardous chemicals.
