A Warsaw couple has been arrested and charged for dealing marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school.

Chanda Leea Rodriguez, 32, and her husband, Ronald Eugene Rodriguez, 34, were taken into custody Wednesday when Warsaw detectives served warrants on the duo.

Ronald Rodriguez has been charged with a class C charge of dealing marijuana and for probation violation. His bond was set at $25,000.

Chanda Rodriguez is charged with aiding her husband in dealing marijuana, a class C felony. Her bond was set at $20,000.

Warsaw Police say the dealing of the illegal drugs occurred at the couple’s residence, which is within 1,000 feet of Warsaw Christian School on South Buffalo Street on the south side of Warsaw. Because of the proximity to the school, charges are upgraded by state statute to the class C felony. Detectives say at least one incident of drug dealing occurred while children were in the home.

Warsaw detectives continue to investigate illegal drug activity, and encourage the public to report suspicious activity to police.
