Kosciusko County Historical Society to Host Walkabout
The Kosciusko County Historical Society is hosting Walkabout Hastings on Saturday, June 16, 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. The public is invited to explore the recreated miniature village of Hastings.
Buildings from the past include a schoolhouse, log cabin, general store & post office, hardware store, a little white church, a hunter’s cabin complete with animal skins, and a barber shop, which also served as a dentist’s office. All the buildings are filled with interesting and useful items from days gone by. There are pot-belly stoves and spinning wheels, pump organs and corn shellers, a little red caboose and horse-drawn fuel delivery wagon. There is something of interest for everyone and homemade ice cream will be available for a donation.
Hastings is located at the corner of CR 425 W and 1050 N, in Jefferson. To get there from Warsaw, go north on IN 15 to CR 900 N and turn left (west). Then turn right (north) onto CR 425 W and go up to CR 1050 N. The village is on the southeast corner of the junction on the Lee Beer farm.
The cost is $3 for non-society members, $2 for society members, and $1 for children 12 and under.
