This weekend the public will get a chance to see the many and varied types of artwork completed by art students at Wawasee High School during the 2011-12 school year. Displays are open to the public 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Displays will be set up in the auditorium surge area, as well as the Learning Resources Center. Several seniors will have artwork displayed as part of a total number of pieces that routinely numbers more than 1,000 each year.

Artwork is done in a variety of forms and includes oil and watercolor paintings, colored, ebony and charcoal drawings, photography, computer graphics, ceramics and more. Judging for the artwork took place Tuesday evening.

Wawasee students can traditionally craft college level quality artwork and this year is not an exception. Molly Harwood will be attending the well known and prestigious Rhode Island School of Design on a full-ride scholarship. Michelle Burnworth received a substantial scholarship to attend Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y., another top undergraduate art school in America.

Carolynn Gingerich and Brooke Garza will attend Ball State University, Taylor Malikowski will attend Indiana University and Heidi Kolberg will attend Indiana Wesleyan University.
